About me
The Sons of Membertou have been proudly representing our Mi’kmaw heritage since the group was formed in 1992. The Sons of Membembertou have played in many Powwows across the country as well as countless festivals and concerts, across North America and Europe. They have played before Prime Ministers and Presidents. They have also performed at the 100 th anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge.The Sons of Membertou have been nominated for an East coast music award for their album Wapn’ak’ik in 1994. This album will be rereleased in 2024 by Folkways Recordings. Folkways Recordings is owned by the Smithsonian Institute. It will be released as the first of a ten-album collection called the Canadian Collection.
