About me
Peter Milhausen has been with the Canadian Coast Guard for 26 years. He started his career as a Deckhand onboard Icebreakers and Buoy Tenders before becoming a Rescue Specialist and transferring to Search and Rescue vessels. After obtaining Navigation Officer certification through Transport Canada he began working as a Commanding Officer on SAR vessels. In 2011, Peter accepted a position at JRCC Halifax as a Maritime SAR Coordinator, responsible for the response, planning, oversight for SAR incidents in Atlantic Canada and North Atlantic Ocean. Currently, Peter is the Senior SAR Program Officer for Indigenous Search and Rescue with the Canadian Coast Guard, Atlantic region. He is involved with delivering SAR training and support to Coast Guard Auxiliary Community Boats and other Indigenous partners throughout the region.
