About me
Dr. Weigand is an assistant professor in management at Dalhousie University who focuses on leadership
development, systemic discrimination, and resiliency. As a member of the Safe Assured international research
consortium, Heidi has a specific interest in healthcare and diversity. Before joining academia, Heidi worked for over
twenty years with IBM Canada Ltd. and Xerox Corporation Inc. in senior marketing positions across North
America.
Heidi has worked with First Nation Communities for over 18 years focusing on three critical areas of
social justice and sustainability, 1) Murdered and Missing Women, Girls, Boys and Two-Spirited Persons
(MMIWGB2S), and 2) Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas (IPCA) and 3) Indigenous Fisheries Governance.
